Terms of Service

Effective September 14, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and RouteSift when you use the RouteSift app and routesift.app. Plain English is intended; where these terms and the law disagree, the law wins.

1. The agreement

By creating an account or using RouteSift you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. You must be at least 16 years old. RouteSift is made by Johnny Fairbank, an independent developer in the United States.

2. What RouteSift does

RouteSift suggests cycling routes from road data, weather and riders' reports, records rides, and can sync a training plan from services you connect. Some features are released to testers first through TestFlight and may change before general release.

3. You are in charge of the ride

Road data, traffic estimates, wetness estimates and rider reports can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. RouteSift suggests roads; it does not know what is on them right now. You decide where and how to ride, you obey traffic laws and signs, and you judge conditions for yourself. RouteSift is not responsible for road conditions, traffic, weather, closures, your equipment, or your riding.

4. Your account

Keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. One account per person. Give us accurate information and keep it current.

5. Your content

Your rides, routes, road reports, photos and profile are yours. You give RouteSift the permission it needs to store, process, display and back them up in order to run the service, including counting the roads riders record into aggregate popularity that carries no link to you and survives deletion of your account. Road reports must be truthful. Do not upload anything illegal, harmful, or that you have no right to share.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, copy or resell road data or routes from the service.
  • Do not probe, overload or interfere with the service or its API.
  • Do not impersonate anyone or file false road reports.
  • Do not reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it regardless of this term.

7. Services you connect

Intervals.icu, TrainingPeaks, TrainerRoad, calendar feeds, Wahoo, Garmin, Apple Health and any other service you connect have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to what happens there. Apple's terms apply to the App Store and TestFlight.

8. Paid plans

RouteSift has no paid plan today; every feature is included. If a Premium plan is introduced, prices are shown in the App Store before you buy, Apple bills you, subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the period ends, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

9. Changes to the service

We can add, change or remove features, and we can suspend or end the service. We will give reasonable notice of anything that removes something you rely on, where we can.

10. No warranty

RouteSift is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of any route or estimate.

11. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RouteSift and its developer are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for injury, loss or damage arising from riding, from road conditions, or from reliance on the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid RouteSift in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, Your data. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other riders or the service at risk.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are resolved in the courts located there, unless the law where you live gives you a right that cannot be taken away.

14. Changes to these terms

When these terms change we post the new version here with a new effective date and tell you in the app if the change matters. Using RouteSift after that means you accept them.
